A character is a letter, a digit, a space or a punctuation mark: exactly what your word processor counts. We use an average of 6 characters per word, spaces included, which matches written French news copy.

A started block is spent

An article of 1,001 characters consumes two credits. The 999 unused characters of the second credit carry over neither to another article nor to the following month: they are gone. Unused credits from one month do not carry over either. We would rather write it here than let you find it on an invoice.

Fixing a sentence costs less than remaking the article, and that is the whole point of targeted correction: it only bills the rewritten passage, one credit per thousand characters, where a regeneration pays for the whole article again. A credit opens at the very first character and each correction opens its own: fixing the same sentence twice costs two credits. We write that here rather than let you expect a leftover. The price shows while you type, and it opens 1,000 characters in a single go.

Keep it for your recognisable voices and your flagship content: it burns through the volume three times faster, and that is the kind of calculation better done before than after.
