The subscription, in plain terms

One question only: how many articles a month

There is no plan to compare, no feature to unlock, no usage billing. You pick a volume, the price eases as it grows, and the whole product is open from the first euro. This page explains the rest, and lets you try it.

From €7.80 a month for 15 articles. See the full grid · Try it free

Everything is included

All 16 features are open on any paid volume. Nothing to unlock, nothing to negotiate.

Nothing beyond the cap

The volume is a cap, not a billing threshold. What goes over is not charged, it is refused, and you can raise your volume in one click.

One credit, one article

Up to 1,000 characters. Beyond that, one more credit per started block, stated before generation and never after.

Cancel in two clicks

No phone call, no reason form. Your already-published audio keeps being served until the end of the paid period.

Your turn

Try it rather than take our word for it

The three tools below are not illustrations: they call the same code our checkout runs. What they show is what will happen.

What volume do I need?

Answer with what you already know: how many articles you publish, and how long they are. The volume follows, not the other way round.

30
1,000 words
that is 6,000 characters · 6 credits per article
The volume you need
180
credits a month
€72.00
a month

on the annual plan, that is €864.00 charged once for twelve months. Without commitment it costs €90.00 a month, which is 20% more. That is tight to the credit: one longer article would put you at the cap.

30 articles × 6 credits per article = 180 credits a month.

One credit = one article of up to 1,000 characters, roughly 167 words. A character is a letter, a digit, a space or a punctuation mark: exactly what your word processor counts. Your word processor gives it to you: in Word, Tools then Word Count; in Google Docs, Tools then Word count.

What can I do?

There is no small and large plan. The line runs between the free trial, which is there to let you hear the result, and paid, which opens everything from the first euro.

The only thing that costs extra

The cloned voice: €199.00 per voice created, one-off, and an article read by it counts as 3 credits instead of one. That is the trade-off for studio quality, and it is stated before every generation.

What if I change my mind?

Set your situation below. The answer is not an illustration of the rule: it is the same calculation the checkout runs, word for word.

What happens

Effective immediately. A fresh twelve-month commitment starts today, and only the difference is charged: what is left of your current year is credited back.

€52.80 a month, annual.

A change is never refused: when it cannot take effect right away it is scheduled, with its date.

What a credit covers

One credit covers one article of up to 1,000 characters. Beyond that, one more credit per additional 1,000 characters started. An article of 2,001 characters therefore costs 3 credits.

What if I go over?

Nothing is charged beyond it. Generation stops, with the renewal date and a one-click way to raise your volume, effective immediately. The volume is a cap, not a billing threshold: that is what makes it possible to charge the year in one go, and it is also why unused credits do not carry over.

What we get asked

The questions we get

What exactly counts as a credit?

One credit covers one article of up to 1,000 characters. Beyond that, one more credit per additional 1,000 characters started. The rule applies to anything that produces audio, regeneration and targeted correction included. Regenerating an article means reading it again in full, so it costs what the article costs. Correcting a passage bills only that passage, under the same rule: one credit per thousand characters rewritten, at least one, always. There is no included editing allowance and no leftover carried from one correction to the next, so fixing the same sentence twice costs two credits. We would rather write that here than let you discover it. One credit opens 1,000 characters of correction, in one go: it does not split across several successive edits.

What exactly is a character? Do spaces count?

A character is a letter, a digit, a space or a punctuation mark: exactly what your word processor counts. Yes, spaces count, and so do commas, full stops and apostrophes: we count the text as it is read, and a space is spoken, it carries the rhythm of the sentence.

You do not have to count them yourself. In Word, Tools then Word Count; in Google Docs, Tools then Word count. As an order of magnitude, a French news article runs at roughly 6 characters per word, so one credit covers about 167 words. That ratio is measured on our own articles rather than estimated, and it is re-checked on every release.

What is counted is the text actually read out: not your page's code, not the captions you exclude, not the advertising boxes.

What happens if I hit my cap mid-month?

Generation stops, and nothing is charged beyond it. From your dashboard you raise your volume, and on the annual plan the increase takes effect immediately: only the difference is charged, and what is left of your current year is credited back. You do not have to write to us, and you do not have to wait.

Do unused articles carry over?

No, and it is the one point where our offer is less flexible than a kitty. That is deliberate: with no carry-over there is nothing to count mid-month, so the year can be charged in one go, so the price drops by twenty percent and paying in instalments becomes possible. We would rather say it at purchase than have you find out at the first renewal.

Are any features reserved for large volumes?

None. An account on 15 articles a month has exactly the same rights as one on 1250. The only thing that costs extra is cloning a voice, which is a separate service rather than a locked feature.

Can I move down a volume?

Yes, on both plans. On the monthly plan the new volume takes effect the following month. On the annual plan the decrease is scheduled for renewal and you keep your current volume until then, since the year is already paid. A change is never refused: when it cannot apply right away it is scheduled, with its date. The simulator above answers for your own case.

Does the free trial turn into a subscription?

Never. It asks for no card, so nothing can be charged. When its credits run out, generation stops and waits for your decision. You can delete the account at any time.

How does payment work?

On a page hosted by our payment provider, where the amount is shown again before you confirm. No card number passes through us or through your CMS. Your invoices, payment method and cancellation all live in your dashboard.

What if I publish more than 1250 articles a month?

At that pace a grid is no longer the right tool. We build the offer with you: negotiated volume with no hard cap, a service-level agreement, integration into your publishing chain, and voice cloning included in the negotiation.

The life cycle

The life of a subscription, end to end

Six moments. What happens, what you pay, and what you can do at each one.

  1. 01The free trial, no card

    The trial

Five credits, enough for five short articles or two average ones, to hear the reading on your own texts. No payment method is asked for, so nothing can be charged.

    What you give
An email address. No card, no phone number.
    What is included
Five credits, one player template, no regeneration. A credit opens a thousand characters, for creating as much as for correcting.
    When the quota runs out
Generation stops and waits for your decision. Nothing switches over on its own.

The trial has no expiry date: it is a quantity. Whether you spend your five credits in an hour or over six months changes nothing.

  2. 02You choose a volume

    The first payment

You set the slider to the number of articles you publish each month, you pick the monthly or annual rhythm, and you enter a card for the first time.

    What is charged
On monthly, the first month. On annual, twelve months in one go.
    When the service opens
On receipt of payment. By card that is immediate. By transfer, a deposit lets you start without waiting for the balance.
    Trial credits
Not carried over. They are not added to your first paid month.

You receive the invoice by email and it stays available in the payment portal. The date of that first charge becomes your renewal date.

  3. 03You publish, the credits are spent

    The month running

Each article costs one credit, plus one more per started block beyond what a single credit covers (the exact figure is given above, and it is computed). The dashboard shows the count before every generation.

    What costs a credit
A generation, a full regeneration, and a targeted correction. Each is billed per started block of a thousand characters.
    What costs nothing
    Plays, shares, clips, chaptering, subtitles.
If you do not use it all
Unspent credits do not roll over into the next month.

A targeted correction is counted like a production: one credit per thousand characters rewritten, and each correction opens its own from the very first character. Fixing a sentence costs one credit, and fixing it again costs another. The price shows while you type and asks for your consent before anything is spent.

  4. 04You change volume or rhythm

    A change

At any time, from the dashboard, without writing to anyone. There is one rule: what raises what you pay takes effect immediately, what lowers it takes effect at renewal.

    Moving up a volume
Immediate, and only the difference is charged, pro rata.
    Moving down a volume
Scheduled for renewal. You keep your current volume until then.
    Switching to annual
Immediate, twelve months starting that day.

Leaving the annual commitment is requested before the renewal date and takes effect on that date. A change is never refused: when it cannot apply at once, it is scheduled and you are given the date.

  5. 05The renewal date arrives

    Renewal

On monthly, the charge repeats on the same date. On annual, the date falls twelve months after the first payment, or after the last change of volume.

    Advance notice
An email before the annual renewal, with the amount and the date.
    Renewal itself
Never silent: it is announced, and you can refuse it beforehand.
    Scheduled changes
A volume decrease requested before the date applies on that day.

If your needs have changed, renewal is the right moment to adjust: it is the only point at which moving down a volume costs nothing.

  6. 06You cancel

    Leaving

Two clicks in the dashboard. No phone call, no reason form, no imposed cooling-off period.

    On monthly
Effective at the end of the current month. No further charge.
    On annual
The service stays active until the renewal date, with no renewal.
    Your audio
Exportable at any time, including on the way out, along with your lexicon.

We do not ask why you are leaving in a compulsory form. If you want to tell us the door is open, but it is not a toll gate.

The rule that sums up all the others

What raises the bill applies at once. What lowers it waits for renewal.

It looks like it favours us, and in part it does. It is also the only rule that lets you move up a volume on a Tuesday evening because a story is bigger than you expected, without waiting for the next month. We would rather state it than let you work it out case by case.

Pro rata

What raises the bill applies at once

Moving up a volume or switching to annual takes effect within the second, and only the difference is charged: what remains of your current period is deducted.

At renewal

What lowers it waits for the renewal date

Moving down a volume or leaving the annual plan is requested before the renewal date and applies on that day. You keep your current volume until then, with no interruption.

Never refused

A change is scheduled, not rejected

If your request cannot take effect immediately, it is recorded with its application date, visible in the dashboard. There is nothing for you to do again.

No refund

A paid period is not refunded

Moving down a volume or cancelling does not trigger a partial refund of the current period. In exchange, you keep the full benefit of it to the end.

The awkward cases

When something goes wrong

Six situations, and our answer to each, written before they happen.

You hit your cap in the middle of the month

Generation stops. Your volume is a cap, not a threshold past which we start billing: we cannot charge you for something you did not decide.

What you see

A message with your renewal date and a button to move up a volume, effective immediately. Audio already online keeps being served as usual.

You pay by transfer and your finance team settles at 30 days

This is the normal case in publishing and in the public sector. The quote goes out with the bank details and the reference to quote, and the invoice follows your usual circuit.

When the service opens

On receipt of payment, or of a deposit if you would rather start straight away: the deposit matches your expected first month. The balance stays at 30 days.

Your card is declined at renewal

We retry several times over several days, and we email you at every attempt, both to the billing address and to the account address.

In the meantime

The service stays active. Nothing is cut off at the first failure: an expired card is an administrative incident, not a cancellation.

An article far longer than expected

A 30,000-character feature costs 30 credits, not one. At a steady rhythm, a single investigation can be worth a week of ordinary output.

Before you pay

The dashboard shows the character count and the number of credits that will be charged before generation starts. You can back out at that moment.

You regenerated an article by mistake

A full regeneration is billed like a generation: the whole article, one credit per started block of a thousand characters. It is the commonest case of accidental spending, usually after a small text correction.

Write to us

We credit obvious mistakes back without argument. We also show you targeted correction, which would have cost less: it only bills the rewritten passage, one credit per thousand characters, where a regeneration pays for the whole article again.

You share the account, and someone leaves

An account shared by password becomes a problem the day somebody leaves, and nobody knows who has access to what any more.

Good practice

Create a named access per person using roles, rather than a shared account. Removing someone then takes a second, without changing anyone else's credentials.

Invoicing, VAT, accounting

The questions your finance team will ask

They sometimes hold up a decision for longer than the price does.

  • Are the prices shown excluding tax?

Yes, every amount on the site is excluding tax. Applicable VAT appears on the invoice according to your country and status, and an intra-EU VAT number is taken into account.

  • Do we get a proper invoice?

Yes, at every charge, by email and in the payment portal. It carries your legal entity name, your billing address and the required legal wording.

  • Can we pay by bank transfer or on invoice?

On an annual commitment and above a certain volume, yes. Ask for a quote and we will set up whatever settlement method suits your finance team, purchase order included.

  • Can we add a purchase order reference to the invoice?

Yes. An internal reference, a contract number or a department code can be added and will appear on every subsequent invoice.

  • Do you see our card number?

No, never. Payment goes through a specialist provider, on a secure page in its own name. We store no card data, neither in clear nor encrypted.

  • What about a public procurement contract?

We answer the usual documentation and accept the billing clauses specific to the public sector. Tell us before you subscribe rather than after: it changes the circuit.

The day you leave

What happens if you leave us

This is the section people read before signing. It sits at the same level as the rest, and it also says the part that does not suit you.

Cancellation

Two clicks, no reason asked

From the dashboard, with no phone call and no justification form. You receive a written confirmation carrying the end-of-service date.

Your audio

It keeps being served to the end

Files already published keep being served until the end of the paid period. Your pages do not break overnight.

Export

You take your files with you

The audio, the statistics and the pronunciation lexicon can be exported in open formats at any time, including during the cancellation period.

The lexicon

What your newsroom corrected belongs to your newsroom

The pronunciations your journalists entered are your work, not ours. They export, and we never reuse them for anybody else.

Afterwards

What is deleted, and when

Once the legal accounting retention period has passed, your texts and your files are deleted from our infrastructure. Export before you leave: we do not keep a courtesy copy indefinitely.

Still a question?

We would rather answer it before you pay. Twenty minutes is usually enough, and it saves discovering a rule after the fact.

Talk it through with us
