Adding audio to a Systeme.io site: posts and pages

Systeme.io hosts blogs, funnels and content pages. Here is how to add a listenable audio version, which method fits how you publish, and what the platform actually allows.

Systeme.io is an all-in-one platform: sales funnels, a blog, email, course areas. Many of the people who use it also publish editorial content, advice articles, guides, pages that explain a method, and that content benefits from being listenable for readers who browse on mobile or on the move. This article explains how to add audio to a Systeme.io site, which route to take depending on how you publish, and where the limits are.

What Systeme.io allows, and what it constrains

Systeme.io is a hosted platform: you do not touch the server, and the editor is deliberately simple. That is a strength for getting started fast, and a constraint when you want to insert an outside component. The good news is that an audio player asks for very little: it fits inside a code block you drop into the page, exactly where you want it. As long as your editor accepts a code element or a custom HTML block, the integration is direct.

Depending on your plan and the kind of page (a blog post, a funnel page, a content page), the element has different names, but the logic is the same: open the editor, add a code block, paste the player, publish. Nothing in your text is changed; the player is added above or below it.

The simple route: paste a block per page

If you publish a handful of articles or pages, the safest method is to paste the player block page by page. You keep full control of placement, you see the result at once, and you risk nothing elsewhere on the site. The known downside is that you redo it on every new page. For a moderate publishing pace that is perfectly acceptable, and it is also the fastest way to test whether your readers actually listen before going further.

If you would rather not even create an account to begin with, you can: we cover that path in the article on installing an audio plugin without an account. You can also simply paste a text to generate its audio, without starting from a URL at all, while you judge the voice.

The automatic route: by feed or by API

If you publish often, copying a block by hand quickly gets tiresome. Two automations exist, depending on what your site exposes. If your Systeme.io blog publishes a feed of its posts, our RSS feed detects new articles and prepares the audio with no action from you. Not every plan necessarily exposes a feed, so check that point before relying on it: it is the only unknown in this method.

The other route goes through our programming interface, which suits those who already orchestrate their content with automation tools. The principle and its first steps are described in the article on adding audio through the API of any CMS: it applies as is to a Systeme.io publishing flow driven from the outside.

The limits to know before you promise

Let us be clear on two points. First, not every page deserves audio. A short sales page, a form, a thank-you page have nothing worth reading aloud: audio shines on long content, articles and guides, far less on three lines and a button. Do not advertise a fully listenable site; it is neither useful nor believable.

Second, the Systeme.io editor evolves, and depending on your plan the code element may be present or not. If you cannot find it, the feed or API route stays open, which is exactly why there is more than one path. Finally, check the display on mobile before you publish, and make sure the text stays fully present: audio adds to the content, it never replaces it. If you also run a WordPress site elsewhere, the dedicated module goes further there, as the WordPress page explains.

Where to start

Pick your most-read article, add the audio player in a code block, check the result on mobile, and publish. Let it run for a few weeks, look at who starts playback and how far they get, and only extend where it works. If you are taking over a site that already has many articles, our piece on how long it takes to add audio to an existing blog gives a concrete calculation to plan the job.
